Well, in the simplest terms, it’s dummy text used by the Publishing Industry when testing the look/layout of designs. It’s akin to the programming world when students learning a new language often write a simple program that outputs “Hello World” to the display. Although, Lorem Ipsum has been around much longer than “Hello World.”

I personally use Lorem Ipsum text extensively while I work on Website design layouts.
